A Mini Tutorial

This was offerred up on Cinema4D.be aswell as a little digital painting tutorial, excellent for those who like to create there own artworks or textures. It's very very basic, but I enjoyed creating it. Enjoy CG.

Old Artworks Part 04

Audi cars are some of the best vehicles i've ever seen, the design and curvature of those cars always amaze me, none more than the futuristic Audi RSQ featured in the 2005 film I Robot. a while back I decided I wanted to re-create this amazing car. I came across a few difficulties, one being a rather foolish part of being 60% through modelling the car and accidently making the high res mesh editable, rendering it impossible to revert to a low res mesh anymore. But rather than undo the steps i'd made to the curvature, or indeed start again, I carried on with this project. I i'm very happy with the results. Be warned these are high res renders. A while back also I participated in a brilliant challenge over at Cinema4D.be, the challenge was to create a funfair, and there was even prizes to be won, the first prize being very expensive and most excellent. Well I managed to get 4th here with my entry and I was delighted to even be considered. So this is my Funfair Scene.

Old Artworks Part 03

Well continuing the re-creations of classic gaming systems. That is my name after all :) I just had to re-create these two gems from the gaming past. First up is the Atari 2600, again I had this system, it came complete with an in-built game called Asteriods, highly addictive game it was too. Second up is the NES, the predessor to the Snes, this was where it all started for Nintedo really, this is where the big bucks came flooding in for the company, and they've been going strong since. Anyone remember Dangermouse? of course you do! Well here's the Danger Hopper spacecraft! Now this was a very big project for me at the time, I'd not tackled a full exterior building project before and I'd been inspired by another couple of renders i'd seen over on CGS and I was compelled to try my own Bar & Grill scene. I'm extremly proud of this one too. And finally this Tardis was created for the Telephone Booth SMC a while back, but here's a full render with a nice HDRI backdrop :)

Old Artworks Part 02

And so we continue the old artworks theme. And so this first artwork of the pop plants, this was actually a tutorial that I followed from Cinema4D.be another wonderful website, originally dutch, but they are very kindly translating more and more as much as they can. This tutorial was created by a very talanted artist known as Rich, he's a mod over at C4D.be and now also a mod over at C4DCafe too. And so this was my results after following the tutorial, it was also my first tutorial where i'd experimented with sub surface scattering too. I'm very happy with my results here. Well who could forget the classic games system that is the Super Nintendo Entertainment System or Snes for short and known to most as. The Snes was one of my favourtie games systems that I ever played. The games were bright colourful, engaging and extremely playable. And so I just had to re-create this 80's/90's gems in 3D. Next up is a recently revamped peice of artwork, this was one of my first attempts at archicatural/interior designs, and i've recently updated it with better materials, slightly better lighting and GI.

Old Artworks Part 01

Well as promised quite a while ago, here some old artworks. Well first up of course is Harry Potter's Hogwarts Express, this was and still is a work in progress, i've not had the inclination or the time to carry on with this one yet. But i'm reasonably happy with the results of this so far. Below that is an old vehicle model I completed over a year ago. For those old enough to remember it's Inspector Morse's car, otherwise it's the Jaguar MK II, this was just a test scene created by fellow Cinema 4D master and friend -R3D-, the shopping trolley is there just so it looks like an abandoned car park. But the background scene that -R3D- created is truelly wonderful and very realistic, and he very kindly let me use it. Earlier this year I had yet another work in progress over at threedy forums, and the idea was to re-create The Simpsons Moe's Tavern in 3D. I modelled the Tavern and all other elements originally before anything else, but after i'd finished the Tavern interiors, many wished to see the man himself within it. So this was my rather poor attempt at modelling Moe, he's not perfect but he's rather good for my ability at organic modelling. Then below that is the Tavern itself. Homer is lying drunk and unconscious on the floor. Homer's a high res imported model which isn't mine, but felt I needed a friend's model of Homer to set the scene.

New Artwork

Now that i've uploaded all of my backed up old SMC's. I'll be uploading old and new artwork, projects that i've been working on, and Work In Progress too. Stay Tuned, and thanks for stopping by.

Kind Regards Classic Gamer

Speed Modelling Challenge #154 & #155 - 3D Swords

Swords then, well this is the latest SMC right now over at Threedy forums. And i've gone for a classic, which is the Tundercats Sword Of Omens, I loved Thundercats so much, and I just had to try to model this fantastic sword once again. I had partially modelled this sword before in an earlier SMC, alongside the scabbard/claw, but my modelling skills were much poorer in my opinion back then, I consider myself a little bit better at modelling now, and i've learn't alot more too. I also think that i'm a much faster modeller than before. And I really enjoyed making this one. Hopefully I'll make some more soon too. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #152 & #153 - 3D Toothbrush Redux

Toothbrushes were the topic for this SMC, I enjoyed making this one, the textures were planned early on and made within Adobe Photoshop CS2, and then I later modelled 3 entries, my 3rd being the most popular entry on the forums, as I beleive that's the most faithful to the design and shape of a real toothpaste tube. I like the look of my first entry though, and I feel that the renders really came out very well. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #148 & #149 - 3D Kart Racer Part 01

Kart Racer, this was fun! I really enjoyed making these Karts, of course I had to reference from Super Mario Kart, I loved that game, it was so cool. So 2 of my entries were inspired by Super Mario Kart, and then a 3rd was just referenced from google image searching. Really great challenge, with even better models than my own on the forums. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #146 & #147 - 3D Rold Playing Game

Model a scene from a Role Playing Game, RPG's are something that i've not really played before, but I still enjoyed modelling the entries that I made. These entries were'nt nearly as amazing as some of the other members entries on Threedy. But I still enjoyed making them, and I learn't from the experience too, which is always a good thing. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #144 & #145 - 2D Platform Game

2D Platform Games, the idea with this SMC is to re-create a well known Video Game, I tried a few times and there are a few entries below, but it's actually alot harder than you first think. I enjoyed making the entries that I made. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #142 & #143 - 3D Jack In The Box

Jack in the box, fairly simple topic this one, so not going to say much more than that, here's my 2 entries. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #140 & #141 - 3D Napkin Holder/Dispenser

Napkin holders or dispensers, this was a right challenge, but strangly not the dispensers or the holders, my challenge was trying to create the napkins themselves. They are pretty hard to re-create. But never the less i've tried to do my best. Again there were some much better entries than mine on the forums, but here's mine anyway. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #138 & #139 - 3D USB Flash Drvies

USB Flash Drives, wow did I enjoy this one, I made quite a few entries too. I wen't into overdrive I 'd made so many of these USB Drives :). Unfortunately the Trainer entry was over the time limit, so I couldn't post it in the end, but it's here in all it's glory to see. Enjoy CG.

#136 & #137 - 3D Wind Chimes

Wind Chimes, they come in all different shapes and sizes, and so did the entries submitted on the Threedy SMC, this was a good SMC to take part it. I made quite a few wind chimes for this SMC, and they are pictures below. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #134 & #135 - 3D Custom Invention

Custom Invention, the idea with this one is to create something that the curent world hasn't got. Or an additional time saving or labour saving device that can help the modern world. I only managed to think up 2 idea's, my creative juices obviously were'nt flowing that week. So I wen't for a Garden Helper and a breakfast labour saving device. Again sadly just renders due to the sever losing the original. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #132 & #133 - 3D Animaniacs

Animaniacs i'm sure you're familair is the well known long running animated cartoon from Warner Bros about the 2 warner bros and warner sister that live in the Warner Bros water tower. Again with this one, I didn't make too many of these, as i'm not a character/organic modeller at all. In fact i'm dreadfull at organic modelling. But here's my 2 entries. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #130 & #131 - 3D Free From The Year

The idea behind this one was, as it was the year end, You could model out anything from the list of topics that were offered in that specific year. So i've gone for the Windmills, Bobblehead and others etc. So here's my entries. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #128 & #129 - 3D The Grinch That Stole Christmas

The Grinch That Stole Christmas started out as a book created by Dr Suess and then was later turned into an animation feature length cartoon, and then an awful live action/CG film starring Jim Carrey, not the best film by Mr Carrey in my opinion, that and Cable Guy are black spot in an otherwise pretty good career. I only managed to create one entry for this, due to the fact that it was nearing to Christmas, and I defy anyone who isn't busy near Christmas Time, and that I wasn't too inspired by this one either. So anyway here's my entry. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #126 & #127 - 3D Bathroom

Well ever since this SCM for bathroom's the SMC's changed from 1 week challenges to 2 week challenges, mainly to allow more time for entries to come in, but also for the good old mods over at Threedy to be able to keep a reasonable amount of time to judge the previous SMC's. Bathroom's are a brilliant subject too, as there's so many variety too them, and with the addition of 90 mins time limit in which to create these scenes was a great addition. I also attempted to light one bathroom at night, there's 2 different nighttime bathroom images, i'm really very proud of them too. And so here's my entries. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #124 & #125 - 3D Cartoon Cars

OK well this time around it was to model a cartoon car, in the same vain as Pixar's Cars film that was out at the same time as this SMC was going on. I was actually delighted to create a cartoon style car. Giving the cars mouths and big bulging eyes etc was great fun. I've always enjoyed creating cars, and I was able to model out a very very basic shape of a vehicle well within the time frame. So here's my entries. Again unfortunately there are a few without the composites, due do being lost etc. The second one which is a monster truck wasn't entered in the end due to being too late to submit. So here they are. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #123 - Shopping Cart

This was a quick one really, I only entered the once, it was too hard to model initially, but also I was unispired so there's only the one entry here unfortunately. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #122 - 3D Ceiling Fan

Ceiling fans this time around. I actually really struggled with this week's SMC. It was harder than it looked to me anyway. But I had a go anyway. So here goes, here's my entries. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #121 - 3D Hair Brush

Hair Brushes, now these were a challenge, think about all of those individual little brush hairs. Again as with most SMC's there's so many different types of hair brushes. So there was loads of choice. Here's my entries. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #120 - 3D Rings

Rings this time around, rings aren't hard to create at all, in fact they are usually just a cylinder with a chamfer. Only the diamonds, jewels or ruby's are very hard to get right. Anyway, this was a definate challenge in every sense of the word. So here's my entries. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #119 - 3D Telescopes

Telescopes are actually pretty hard to create when you actually look at them properly. And these entries that I created here were definatly a challenge. But that's what these SMC's are exactly all about. So I learn't quite alot, again there was a huge amount planning and researching as with all SMC's. So here goes. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #118 - 3D Video Game System Part II

And this was the Video Games System SMC part II this was the controllers. I'd made a few entries for this one, and even an entry that i'd thought up by myself too. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #117 - 3D Video Game System

This one is to model a custon made Video Game System or any Video Game system that has ever existed. I went for a combination of both. I loved modelling these game systems, some were harder to create than others especially within the time limit, but careful planning help enormously. Controllers were allowed to be created as they were intended for the next week's SMC. Again there's some without composites unfortunately. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #116 - 3D Simon Says: Fishing Reel

The Simon Says rule was that Threedy was going to suggest a topic as usual to model something, the difference with this one was though that all of the reference pictures were supplied, and we had to choose one of the reference pictures and great the fishing reel from that picture. Unfortunately halfway through some members didn't like being told what do to, strange, I enjoy it strangely, but halfway though, the SMC went back to the model a fishing reel style SMC. And so here's my entries. Unfortunately, I've lost the composite renders for these two entries, and since Threedy moved to a new server, there's no backup either. But here they are anyway. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #114 - 3D Cookware

Cookware was the subject for this week's SMC. Pot and Pans and the like. I really enjoyed making this one, in fact on two of them i'd finished making the cookware so quickly I managed to make a kitchen environment aswell. What's even better is that I managed to win a Total Textures CD again with one of my entries. It's such a great feeling to win something because of my artwork. I loved it. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #112 & #113 - 3D CPU Heatsink/Cooling System

Well I didn't enter for a few weeks, either that or i've lost the entries, to be honest I cannot remember, but I do remember that when it was an SMC in which to model out a CPU heatsink Or Cooling System, I really wanted to particupate in this one, as I love technical modelling. This was right up my street for modelling. So here's those entries. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #108 - 3D Rocket Backpack

This was a great idea for an SMC a rocket backpack, the entries that other members created on this SMC were alot better entries than mine, I struggled slightly with modelling mainly, but also the texturing and lighting weren't as good as i'd hoped for. But anyway here's my entries. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge - #106 & #107 - Hero/Villan Equipment

This was a very good SMC, the idea on this one was to create equipment that would be used by the hero's and villans of the comic book style superhero worlds. Think Batman's belt, or Spider-man's Green Goblin Glider etc. This was a difficult one, but not for the model essentially, it was actually quite difficult to think of hero/villan equipment that you could actually model within the time limit. I also seem to have misplaced/lost the Thundercats Sword & Scabbard composite and The Riddler's Stick & Spider-man's Doc Ock Fusion Chamber, so i've just uploaded the wireframe and the render. So here is what i've created. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge - #105 - 3D Bobblehead

Bobblehead's are those wonderfully funny and usually very well detailed mini characters or figures with a overly large head that bobble's up and down when it's moved. They usually consist of well known celebrities, characters, cartoon's & comic book characters. And my entries are no exception. This was certainly a challenge, especially with the time limit, to create a very very basic character and a bobbly head. Never the less I tried, not completly successfully, but I still loved creating them. Organic/character modelling has never been one of my strengths, But I enjoyed it none the less. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #104 - 3D Outdoor Grill/BBQ

Outdoor grills or BBQ known over here in the UK are the theme for this SMC, there are so many many different styles, sizes and shaped grills that I was spoilt for choice. I loved making these, as they indeed really were a challenge to figure out and to model within the time period. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #103 - 3D Telephone Booth

Telephone booths, deceptively difficult to model actually, the booth itself might now present much of a challenge to you, but the phone base and reveiver was pretty hard for me to create. I managed it though, and had a go and a few different styles of telephone booth too. One of my entries, is such an icon, and I adore the new series also. I actually won this SMC which granted me a free Total Textures Texture CD, which I was overjoyed to receive in the post. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #102 - 3D Speed Animation Trophy

Threedy has many many others parts to it's forums, one of these different sections are the Animation Challenges, so this SMC was a prime chance for Threedy's members to come up with creations for a 1st, 2nd or 3rd Trophy for the Speed Animation's members. Again this was another SMC, that I really enjoyed. And so here they are. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #100 - 3D Legos Revisted

Remember Lego? I do, I loved it, still do if i'm honest lol. Now this SMC was a real clever and good one, we had to split this up into a two weeker SMC, the first week would have a 60 min time limit, in which we had to choose the Lego peices that we wanted to model out, and then the second week, we'd have another 60 min time limit to assemble multiple copies of those previously modelled peices. So a good deal of planning was needed for this 2 week SMC. I really enjoyed making my entries and planned like made to make sure I'd got everything I needed for each entry. Great Idea for an SMC and there was some brilliant entries. Enjoy CG

Speed Modelling Challenge #91 - 3D Windmills

This is an older post, it rightly belongs after the lanterns SMC, but I didn't find this old SMC entry until much later, so I though it's post it up now. This was of course the 2nd try at Speed Modelling Challenges, I was incredibly pleased with this one too, I really loved creating it, and I really thought that i'd got a very good lighting and materials setup here too. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #99 - 3D Wine Rack

And so Wine Racks are the subject for this particular weeks challenge. And I tried my best to meet the challenge too, this time making no less than 5 entries :) Some of these entries I like, although others I'm not too happy with, not so much dissapointed with my modelling on these, but my lighting and textures doesn't quite satisfy my expectations in this SMC. Anyway here they are. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #98 - 3D Mail Box

This SMC is of course Mailboxes, or Postboxes as they are known here in the UK. I really enjoy building these 3 entries too. 2 of which I consider some of the best renders i've created. By this time, i'm slowly (very slowly) getting better and better at modelling, and I think it shows too. Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #97 Patio Furniture

Speed Modelling Challenge #97 Patio Furniture, was my second go at the SMC's there had been several SMC's inbetween them of course, but i've either lost the artwork, of didn't take part in them, I didn't think that my skills were up to standard back then. So this one was Patio Furniture, and a very interesting subject too, a massive difference of style, and shapes, I had several goes at this one, and they are listed below. Oh well, Enjoy CG.

Speed Modelling Challenge #90 - 3D Lantern

Old Speed Modelling Challenge, this was the very first SMC it was Threedy's Speed Modelling Challenge #90 I took park in over at Threedy Forums. The Subject for this SMC was Lantern's model a Lantern within a 60 mins time limit. I chose a traditional Chinese Lantern, and I was fairly impressed with my materials and render settings too. Although I did find creating the lantern's in 60 mins pretty hard back then. Of course now I could model almost double that, and that's what's so brilliant about those SMC's is that you learn every single time to take part.
